In February 2017, KIDSgala hosted a Frozen Celebration for Hope Roelofs at The Inn at St. John’s in Plymouth, Michigan. Hope’s Frozen-themed party included visits from Princess Anna and Princess Elsa, who both sang for Hope and her guests. Activities included face painting, balloon animals, nail painting and a photo booth. Hope and her guests were treated to dinner and treats fit for a princess!
Hope, who turned three years old on February 3, 2017, was born with Spina Bifida, which was diagnosed when she was five months in utero. Based on the location of the opening on Hope’s spine, her doctors told her parents at best she would do minimal walking. After making many trips back and forth to U of M for physical therapy, Hope’s muscles began to strengthen. She now undergoes therapy twice a week at home and will continue through her school years. Hope is now walking without needing braces, crutches or supports! Her family calls her a sassy, spunky miracle.
